Exquisite Grand Mansion Inn
Situated in a Mid-Southern Temperate Climate
Highland Place B&B Inn is a dynamic business opportunity within the expanding and economically vibrant city of Jackson, Tennessee.
Jackson sits astride the “Music Highway” section of I-40 between Memphis and Nashville and was rated as one of the 2006 “Best Cities for Relocation Families” by Worldwide ERC & Primacy Relocation.
Selected first in the state “People’s Choice” awards for B&B Inns by readers of the statewide Tennessee magazine in 2005, Highland Place is a singularly elegant inn filled with quality, refinement, and art.
Built in 1911, this gracious red brick mansion of approximately 6,000 square feet sits on two beautifully landscaped mid-town lots in the historic Lambuth Area Neighborhood. The large front porch has two immense columns. Flanking each side of the main house are two essential features: a porte-cochere and a screened plantation porch, typical of its Colonial Revival style. Aged oaks and magnolia trees grace the property. The eastern perimeter of the property is embellished with a beautifully landscaped terrace highlighted by a gated iron fence.
Throughout the entire inn, great care over the years preserves the beauty and integrity of the original quarter-sawn oak floors, rare persimmon wood doors, and original cherry paneled library.
The mansion features exceptional public space. An intimate living room with gas fireplace opens off the main hall foyer. A grand library centers its focus on a wood burning fireplace. The formal dining room comfortably seats two to twenty and offers an enchanting view of the garden area through its five oversized windows. It is a favorite sitting area for bird lovers. The well designed kitchen is fully commercial, including a Viking six-burner stove with two ovens, a Viking dishwasher, an oversized Sub-Zero refrigerator, and a work island featuring an additional sink with a disposal. The Bistro butler’s pantry between the dining room and kitchen serves as the guests’ refreshment center and as a staging area when serving group dinners and receptions.
Four guest rooms include two suites with fireplaces, all with private bathrooms. Each guest room has its own distinctive décor commensurate with the quality and style found throughout the entire property.
The innkeeper’s four room suite on the second floor comprises a bedroom, an updated bath and dressing area, sitting room, and business office.
On the lower level is an opportunity for another office, gift shop, or spa room. This lower space has egress to the exterior rear steps, opening onto the aggregate driveway.
Additionally, there exists potential to develop the third level into guest space. It is currently used as a partially carpeted storage area, with temporary walls with studs in place for actual development.
Home-4-Awhile Duplexes
An integral part of the business is the “Home-4-Awhile” extended stay duplex properties available for guests staying longer periods of time.
All four apartments include fine furnishings and equipment. Important to our executives who usually populate these domains are extra amenities not found in temporary housing. Kitchens are fully equipped with necessary food preparing and serving items. The bed and bath are equipped with fine linens for extra comfort. Utilities, cable TV with DVD players, and WiFi Internet capabilities are included as extended stay amenities.
Deaderick House: Constructed in 1904, in close proximity to Lambuth University and near the main inn. It is simply extraordinary in its Victorian design and detail. Its Eastside apartment has a fully furnished living room, queen bedroom, and eat-in kitchen. The Westside apartment also has a fully furnished living room, two bedrooms (one queen, one with two twin beds), a study, and a large eat-in kitchen. There’s an enclosed porch and utility space at the rear of the building. The property sits on a well landscaped lot and includes a charming “child’s play house” and garage behind the enclosed back yard. The adjacent lot maybe used in future development.
Arlington Duplex: Another extended-stay property is on Arlington Avenue, a half block north from the inn. Here are two mirror image apartments, also fully furnished including living rooms, kitchens, bedrooms, offices, and laundry rooms, all with roomy storage spaces. The one side has access to an upstairs adding two bedrooms and another bathroom to its parameters. The lot is fenced and has a storage area within the back garage.
