1503 Cornersville Hwy-Owners Story- Thirteen years ago, I bought a view (with 30 acres)...I didn't give much thought to what was on the 30 acres...I needed a personal escape (I had just lost my husband to a sudden illness). It turns out there was a well-maintained old farm house on the property where I lodged my 80-year-old parents and I put a new doublewide at the end of the 1600 foot driveway at the edge of the woods and built a deck as big as the house for me. From there, I could look in any direction and see pristine, peaceful, pastoral scenes. I could walk to the sparkling year-round creek flowing gently across the back pasture. I could watch white-tail deer, wild turkey, and every variety of bird imaginable. I communed with nature and I talk to God. I found my direction again on that deck. I had to turn this place into a horse farm. My horses were boarding with strangers.
There was an old tobacco barn, a detached garage and an old blacksmith shop on the place. They soon became three 2 stall barns. Then I started fencing a little at a time as money allowed. It became 7 pastures of varying sizes. My herd which had included my retired show mare, my retired show stallion, and two broodmares grew to as high as 19 and is now down to 6 mares, 1 yearling, and 3 donkeys (comic relief).
In 2007, I bit the bullet and built my dream barn: four box stalls, a wash rack with hot/cold water, and an office. It's afforded hours of fun with the two best trail mares in the country! Oh, did I mention, there are about 40 acres of woods to ride ( I have 12 and my neighbor has about 30, and if you ask her real nice, she'll let you ride hers, too).
All of this is only 8 miles from I-65 to the east and 3 miles from Lewisburg, TN, to the West. It's a little piece of heaven in the midst of the huistle and bustle, and all the hard work has been done. Of course, there will always be something else to do.
Thirteen years ago, I didn't think that I would be turning 62 and wanting to retire; but it's time for me to find a smaller piece of ground and it's time for someone else to enjoy this wonderful place... you'll love it as much as I do. I promise!
