Historic, Majestic, Multi-purpose
This Sanderson landmark originally served as the area Masonic Lodge. It currently is home to a family of five; dad, mom and three boys, a 5th grader, a freshman and a junior. The family has done extensive remodeling and renovation to make it into a wonderful place to live.
The structure consists of three floors with approximately 3000 sq. ft. on each floor. The bottom floor is covered with ceramic tile and consists of three bedrooms, a family room, an office/computer room, an exercise and recreation room, a utility room, a hallway and a small room suitable as a wine cellar or a safe haven from storms. Lighted closet space is abundant, with lots of built-ins for storage.
The second floor consists of one large room which serves as a kitchen, master bedroom and bath, an office, a family room and home to an array of antiques and collectibles, 90% of which are for sale. Large windows allow copious sunlight to illuminate the interior by day.
The floor is oak and all doors and facings are finished pine. And as you can see in the photos, they are beautiful. Crown molding, mostly in 20 ft. lengths, accents the ceilings and walls. The open staircase accesses all three floors. It is a magnificent assemblage of finished pine with an exposure of paneling, tile and brick.
The third floor consists of one large room which currently serves as storage for materials and items removed during renovation, to be refurbished and restored for later use. The flooring is pine, as well as the doors and facings.
Even with as much work as has been done on the building, please know that there is much work still to be done. This adds to the excitement and challenge that a prospective buyer with vision and imagination would experience.
The property has unlimited potential. As previously stated, it currently serves as a home. Since there are no zoning restrictions in Sanderson, it could serve as a residence and a business or strictly as a business. It could be converted into three, 3,000 sq. ft. apartments or made into a beautiful home with lots of room for entertaining and housing relatives, friends and neighbors.
The brick facade is decorated with two stately and massive ionic columns that soar majestically from the entrance steps thirty feet to the cornice and parapet, all of dazzling white limestone. Over the entrance way between the columns is the symbolic Masonic builder’s square and compass icon on a cornice and carved shell and scroll pediment above the door. The frieze and cornice that tops the building is truly a work of art, designed and executed by a master stonemason and unique to the architecture of that time period.
