July 25, 2011 (KANSAS CITY, Mo.)
– United Country Auctions
Services’ presence was alive and
well
for the fifth year in a row at
the National Auctioneer
Association’s 62nd International
Auctioneers Conference and Show
in Orlando, Fla., on July 11 to
15. Aside from the usual display
exhibit, members
of United Country’s management
team and affiliate auctioneers
participated in a variety of
capacities.
“The 2011 NAA Conference & Show
is a must-attend event for our
team and our United Country
auctioneers,” said Mike Jones,
president of United Country
Auctions Services. “I have been
attending for almost thirty
years. United Country determined
early on that in order for us to
be true partner and proponent of
the auction profession, we
needed to be involved.”
Jones, who is also a National
Auctioneers Foundation board
member, acted as one of the
judges in the 14-hour-long
International Auctioneer
Championship. Jerry King of
United Country King Auction &
Realty Co., Inc., and Mark
Younger of United Country -
Twaddle Realty, Inc., entered
the finals with only thirteen
other contestants. The contest
featured over 80 professional
men and women auctioneers from
across the United States and
abroad.
“Between the networking and
educational opportunities, the
marketing competitions and the
technology offerings, not to
mention the Super Bowl of all
auctioneering competitions, if
you are an auctioneer, it’s the
place to see and be seen,” said
Jones. I’ll never miss one.”
Also in attendance was Shawn
Terrel, vice president of United
Country Auction Services. This
year
saw the completion of his
three-year term on the NAA board
of directors. During his stint,
he was chairman of the NAA human
resource committee and chairman
of the NAA technology committee,
which rolled out two new NAA
websites during his tenure,
including an online auction
search engine.
"The auction industry has
changed more in the past five
years, than it has in the
previous thirty,” said Terrel.
“Serving on the board afforded
me an opportunity help lead and
strategically position our
association for success as it
enters a severely transitioned
marketplace. The NAA has made a
lot of positive changes that
will significantly improve our
chances for survival in today’s
business climate.”
United Country Real Estate’s
auction marketing division
received awards in multiple
categories in the
2011 National Auctioneers
Association Marketing
Competition, including the
Auction Printed Materials –
Multi-Color, Catalog,
Newspaper/Magazine Advertising,
Postcard and Internet
categories. Through this annual
contest, the nation’s most
successful auction marketing
groups competed for coveted
awards highlighting the most
innovative and effective auction
marketing campaigns.
The exhibit this year was manned
by United Country’s Nate Ryan
and David Rose, who were on hand
to answer any questions
attendees had concerning United
Country Real Estate, United
Country Auction Services and
what the company offers to
potential partners.
Roughly 50 members of the United
Country family attended the
convention – both for the home
and affiliate offices.
"The annual International
Auctioneers Conference and Show
is the world's largest event
dedicated
to the auction profession and
industry. Auctioneers from
across the world join together
every summer
to network with fellow
auctioneers, attend educational
seminars customized for auction
professionals, learn about the
newest tools and products
available at our Trade Show,"
according to the NAA website.
