Non-Urban Real Estate Experiencing Increased Sales In 2007
Kansas
City, MO- October 22, 2007- One bright
spot in today’s real estate industry
continues to be non-urban markets, according to
statistics released by United Country
Real Estate this week. The company,
which specializes in properties in small
cities and towns across the United
States, has shown strong growth in many areas of
the country in the first nine months of
2007.
The
company has experienced sales volume
increases in over half of their regional
markets, including the Oklahoma,
Wisconsin/Illinois and Wyoming/South
Dakota/Eastern Montana regions where
sales volumes have increased more than
50 percent year-to-date.
In
making the announcement, Richard
Thompson, Executive Vice President of
Sales, said, “These statistics directly
reflect the strength of United Country’s
distinct marketing systems which were
designed to serve the specialized needs
of non-urban markets. This also
validates our decision to increase
marketing efforts as the market softened
and we are very excited to see our
affiliated offices performing so well in
a challenging market.”
While
the market has softened in many areas,
United Country’s numbers have remained
strong in the first nine months of 2007, with
company sales volume equal to that
recorded through the third quarter of 2006, which was United
Country’s highest grossing year in over
80 years.
According to Dan Duffy, CEO, one
explanation for the stability of the
rural real estate market compared to its urban
counterpart, is a buyer segment that the
company classifies as Idyllic Lifestyle Seekers. This
group, which accounted for over 34
percent of United’s buyer base in 2006, includes urban-to-rural
relocators, recreational property
buyers, second-home buyers and
lifestyle-enabling business buyers.
Unlike the majority of buyers in more
urban areas of the country, Idyllic
Lifestyle Seekers are generally less
restricted by mortgage lender terms due to their ability to make substantial
down payments or to pay cash for
properties.
“As we
enter the 4th quarter, I feel
confident that our 2007 sales volume
will match or possibly surpass that of
our record-setting 2006,” Duffy
predicts.
United
Country Real Estate is the only national
real estate and auction franchise system
specializing in residential, farm and
ranch, commercial, retirement, second
home and recreational properties in
small cities and towns across America.
The company currently publishes nine
niche real estate magazines and executes
a marketing program that attracts more
than 925,000 visitors a month to: www.unitedcountry.com, the
leading real estate web site in its
market. United Country reaches more than
90 million homes each week through its
national advertising of
franchisee-listed properties in various
local, regional and national print media
outlets. With a heritage that dates back to 1925 and headquartered in Kansas
City, Mo., the company supports more
than 675 franchisees in 44 states and
markets a national database of
properties at
