is the gateway to Cochise County in
southeast Arizona. Benson's culture is ingrained in the Old West and
its railroad heritage.
Benson is served by I-10 and State Highway 80.
Benson was founded in 1880 as a stop on the
Butterfield Overland Stage's mail delivery route. When the S.P.R.R.
(Southern Pacific Railroad) was established in southern Arizona
shortly thereafter, it was run through Benson, giving the town a
powerful boost in growth.
Coronado National Forest includes fishing lakes, hiking & biking
trails, camping and picnic sites, rock climbing opportunities, scenic
drives and plenty of watchable wildlife.
