Almost every weekend in the calendar showcases a special event somewhere in the area. The highlight of the year is Deposit's Lumberjack Festival. Honoring the founding industry of the region, this 3-day extravaganza is complete with parade, dances, concerts, raft race, wrestling tournament, reigning "Lumberjill" and many other traditional attractions. Other attractions you’ll want to check out include the Deposit Community Historical Society Museum and Deposit Community Theatre and Performing Arts, Inc.

Public schools in town include the Deposit Elementary School, Deposit Middle-Senior High School and Deposit Christian Academy.  Nearby colleges and universities include Suny at Binghamton, Broome Community College, Suny College at Oneonta, Marywood University, the University of Scranton, Colgate University and Suny College of Agriculture and Technical at Morrisville.
