Lakes and rivers in Sumter County include Panasoffkee Lake, which covers some 4,460 acres with public boat access and fishing for largemouth bass, bluegill, shellcracker, warmouth, catfish and sunfish. It connects to the 157-mile-long Withlacoochee River, which flows out to the Gulf of Mexico.
  
The 125-acre Black Lake specializes in bluegill and black crappie, and connects to Lake Miona. The 418-acre Lake Miona features good fishing for largemouth bass, bluegill and redear sunfish.
  
Other area recreational opportunities include Croom Wildlife Management Area, Green Swamp Wildlife Management Area, the Baird Unit (for hunting), the Richloam Wildlife Management Area, Withlacoochee State Trail, Outlet River - Marsh Bend Park and more. Miona Lake Golf Club boasts of par 72 with 6,488 yards of blue tees, 6,095 yards of white tees and 5,291 yards of red tees. This beautiful and level course also offers 6 holes with water.
