Cattle Appreciation Day: Congratulations Jessica Robinson & Tucker On Winning The Coolest Cow Competition

This month, UCRE affiliate cattle enthusiasts and cow owners submitted their coolest and cutest cows for the first-ever Coolest Cow Competition in celebration of Cattle Appreciation Day on July 14. The competition, held on Facebook, brought together UCRE fans, both new and old, to help determine which bovine would claim the title.

After a competitive contest, one shaggy contender rose above the rest. Congratulations to Jessica Robinson of UC | Dicks Realty and her Highland cow, Tucker, for their well-deserved win!

Of course, no Coolest Cow competition would be complete without hearing from the champion’s owner. We caught up with Jessica and Tucker to learn more about the fluffy fan favorite and the special role cattle have played in her life and business.

What breed of cow is Tucker?

JR: Tucker is a Highland cow. I've always loved the breed because of their long shaggy coats, sweet personalities, and those iconic horns. I'd wanted one for years.

How did Tucker react to wearing the branded hat?

JR: He honestly didn't seem to mind at all! We snapped the picture really quickly, and he had a fresh roll of hay sitting in front of him, so he was much more interested in eating than whatever we were doing. He was completely unfazed by the whole thing.

What does it mean for you to win the first Coolest Cow Contest?

JR: I'm so excited that Tucker won the first Coolest Cow Contest! I mean, I already knew he was the coolest, but having everyone else agree makes it even better! It was such a fun contest, and we're honored Tucker came out on top.

What is your personal history of working with cattle?

JR: Agriculture has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I grew up raising livestock and was actively involved in 4-H throughout my childhood. My dad worked for Purina Mills as a feed salesman, and I often rode along with him as he visited dairy farms throughout our area. I also showed livestock at our local county fair every year from second grade through my senior year of high school. Those experiences taught me responsibility, hard work, and gave me a lifelong appreciation for agriculture.

How has your experience with cattle informed your real estate business?

JR: Growing up in agriculture and participating in 4-H has been incredibly valuable in my real estate career. It allows me to better understand the unique needs of buyers looking for farms or rural properties. Whether it's evaluating fencing that's safe for livestock, understanding horse stalls and barns, or knowing what makes a property functional for cattle and other animals, I can relate to my clients because I've lived that lifestyle myself. That firsthand knowledge helps me better showcase farm properties and serve buyers looking for the right place for their animals.

Any other cow-related anecdotes you'd like to share?

JR: I've always dreamed of owning a Highland cow, so Tucker really is a dream come true. He's become a special part of our family and has formed an especially unique bond with my horse, Dolly. When Tucker was little, I was convinced he thought Dolly was his mama because he would actually try to nurse from her! The funniest part was that Dolly would just stand there and let him. It's one of those memories that still makes us laugh, and it's a perfect example of just how special Tucker has always been.
