McClellan, Alabama (Anniston)
Online Only Auction ends October 21 at 3:00 pm cst
Opened in 1917, Fort McClellan and was once home to nearly 10,000 soldiers and 1,500 civilian workers. Closed in 1999, it was transferred to the community. The Officer's Club, Remington Hall was built in 1936 and was of Spanish Colonial Revival architecture. The interior is spectacular and contains a Reception Hall, a Restaurant and Meeting Rooms. The most storied features of Remington Hall are the carved bar and the exceptional murals dressing the clubs walls. Painted in 1945 by German POWs directly on the plaster walls of the Officer's Club Lounge, the murals have been preserved in much their original state.
Remington Hall has been renovated for commercial restaurant use, including an updated kitchen and modern HVAC.
